[2025.05.23] Daegu Catholic University and Watson & Company Sign Business Agreement for Brain Neurom

[Herald Economy (Gyeongsan) = Reporter Kim Byeong-jin] Daegu Catholic University and Watson & Company (CEOs Kim Min-gyu and Kim Eun-min) signed a business agreement (MOU) for ‘Research on mental health issues using brain nerve regulation technology and artificial intelligence (AI)’ at Koinonia Hall on the 21st.


This agreement was prepared to produce practical results between industry and academia through joint research using biosignal data based on brain nerve regulation and measurement equipment and convergence research in the field of mental health using AI analysis technology, and to establish a mutually beneficial cooperation system.


The main contents of the agreement include ▲ Provision and joint use of biosignal data, planning of national projects ▲ Development of AI-based analysis algorithms and performance of academic research ▲ Clinical application of research results and operation of emotional and cognitive support programs ▲ Promotion of programs linked to internships, national work-study programs, and employment support ▲ Production of corporate branding and joint promotional content ▲ Spreading of agreement results through the press and external media, etc.


At the signing ceremony that day, a ceremony to appoint an advisory faculty was also held to provide advice on interdisciplinary research and business planning.


Professor Min Byeong-un of the Advertising and Public Relations Department at Daegu Catholic University, Professor Kim Su-ah of the Art Therapy Department, and Professor Kim Jeong-hoon of the Computer Software Department were appointed to the advisory faculty, and they will be in charge of corporate branding and marketing, art therapy-related research, and digital therapeutics development, respectively.


President Sung Han-ki of Daegu Catholic University said, “This agreement will serve as a foundation for suggesting new solutions to mental health issues through convergence research combining brain science and artificial intelligence,” and “We expect that the university’s research capabilities and the industry’s technology will come together to make a practical contribution to the local community, medical care, and welfare sectors.”
