Next-generation non-pharmaceutical brain science treatment for the learning ability and emotional stability of children with developmental disabilities is being introduced in earnest in the university education field.

According to Watson & Company, a brain science company, on the 22nd, it will jointly develop a personalized program based on real-time brain wave analysis with Pyeongtaek University.

This program was selected for the Ministry of Education's '2025 Leading University Project by Region for Supporting Students with Disabilities' and is being evaluated as innovative in that it applied brain function enhancement technology used by national athletes to the education field.

The core of the program is real-time brain wave and biosignal analysis through the wearable device 'NEURO_POCUS'. This device measures frontal lobe activity, stress index, and left and right brain balance, and AI generates responsive music according to brain wave frequency and autonomic nervous system balance. At the same time, it non-invasively delivers microcurrent (tDCS) to the prefrontal lobe to stimulate the plasticity of the brain neural circuit, inducing improved concentration and memory. Microcurrent stimulation (tDCS) is a technology that has been proven to be safe and effective worldwide and is being applied in various fields such as medicine, sports, and education.

A Watson & Company official explained, “By combining AI-based music stimulation and brain current stimulation, we can relieve hypersensitivity and emotional anxiety and maximize learning concentration.”

The technology was proven effective through clinical trials at Incheon Catholic St. Mary’s Hospital in 2019 and has since been expanded to health centers and elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide. In particular, the Jincheon National Athletes’ Village is using it to improve athletes’ concentration and sleep quality, and its technological prowess has also been recognized in the sports field.

Watson & Company CEO Kim Min-gyu said, “We will now apply the technology used by public institutions and national athletes to the education of students with developmental disabilities to substantially improve their learning ability as well as their quality of life.”

Meanwhile, this pilot project will begin with 20 students with developmental disabilities and will expand to 100 students by 2026. Through the industry-academic cooperation between Pyeongtaek University and Watson & Company, the technology will be introduced to 50 support centers for disabled students nationwide, and customized learning programs and emotional support systems will be established.
