Watson & Company, a domestic brain science company, announced on the 11th that it has signed the first official brain science-based mental care agreement for artists with the National Theater Arts Group Labor Union. This agreement aims to manage the mental health of artists and strengthen their creative capabilities, and is expected to create a new turning point in the cultural and arts world.
This agreement will initially begin with five artists and producers affiliated with the National Theater, including pansori master Min Eun-kyung, and will later expand to all union members. Watson & Company plans to use brain wave measurement equipment and POCUS technology to verify the practical effects of improving artists’ sleep quality, relieving stress, and enhancing their ability to memorize vast performance scripts, thereby enhancing their performance capabilities.
In particular, the brain wave equipment and POCUS technology used in this agreement have already been introduced to the Jincheon National Athletes’ Village and have been verified in various sports such as swimming, shooting, golf, and professional baseball players. This technology, which has built trust by contributing to improving the concentration and performance of sports players, will be applied to artists for the first time and its effectiveness will be verified. This is drawing attention as an important case of brain science-based mental care technology expanding beyond sports to the cultural and artistic fields.
Watson & Company plans to create a more systematic and scientific mental care environment by analyzing the mental health status of members based on data through regular brain wave monitoring and providing the results in the form of a report. This is the first time that such an advanced brain science platform has been introduced to a domestic arts group.
Park Ki-hwan, Chairman of the National Theater Arts Group Labor Union, said, “Managing the mental health of artists is essential not only for improving the quality of performances but also for creating a sustainable creative environment,” and added, “We hope that this agreement will become a positive precedent for the entire cultural and artistic community.”
A Watson & Company official said, “This is very meaningful as it is the first case of applying brain science technology, which has already been verified in the sports field, to artists,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to have a positive impact on the entire cultural and artistic community.”
